Sharon Bassard

Putting smiles on people’s faces at Venture Richmond events isn’t only one of Sharon’s favorite pastimes, it’s part of her job! As the Events & Booking Manager at Venture Richmond, Sharon takes great pride in knowing the success of our events is supported by her 20+ years of event management experience and dedication to making Richmond a more joyful city.

Her love of entertainment has blossomed through her collaboration and hand in the planning of community events like the 2nd Street Festival, the Richmond Folk Festival, Friday Cheers and more. Her months of behind the scenes work allows hundreds of thousands to enjoy a curated selection of music, food, and fun at some of Richmond’s most notable festivals and events.

Starting her journey as an event volunteer, Sharon now works directly with clients, artists and vendors looking to bring their talents and creations to downtown Richmond. Sharon is a proud graduate of two Virginia universities that share the coolest shade of blue: Hampton University and Virginia State University.

When she’s not planning celebrations and loving the fruits of her labor, Sharon enjoys traveling, live music, spending time with friends and family and being an active member of Delta Sigma Theta, a community service sorority.

• Downtown Fun Fact: At the 2nd Street Festival, we've had memorable visits from celebrities who brought their star power offstage. Shad Moss (formerly Bow Wow) joined us in 2008 to promote youth voter registration, while in 2002, Wyclef Jean made an impromptu appearance, greeting the crowd from the stage.
